Playing Back Sound
(Does not apply to S60 (11-), V60 & XC60 T6 4-cyl)
(Only S60 (11-), V60 & XC60 T6 4-cyl)
All functions in the Audio Control Module (AUD) (16/105) are controlled by the signals from other nodes in the MOST network.
To initiate audio playback, a control module transmits a request to the Infotainment Control Module (ICM) (3/281) or Infotainment Head Unit (IHU) (4/185). The Infotainment Head Unit (IHU) allocates the request to the Audio Control Module (AUD) then the control module can transmit data via the MOST network to the Audio Control Module (AUD).
The Infotainment Control Module (ICM) / Infotainment Head Unit (IHU) processes changes to the volume, balance, bass, treble and equalizer settings. The Infotainment Control Module (ICM) / Infotainment Head Unit (IHU) transmits the changes via the MOST network to the Audio Control Module (AUD) which then carries out the changes.
The control modules on the MOST network which use the Audio Control Module (AUD) to play back sound are:
- The Integrated Audio Module (IAM) (16/1) (Only on vehicles with Infotainment Control Module (ICM))
- Phone Module (PHM) (16/60), handsfree speaker sound
- Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR) (16/145) (market-dependent)
- Digital Audio Broadcast Module (DABM) (16/162) (market-dependent)
- Television Module (TVM) (16/36)
- Rear seat entertainment module (RSE) (16/109) (only XC60)
When the Audio Control Module (AUD) has received optical signals on the MOST network, these signals are sent onwards as analog signals to the directly connected loudspeakers:
- loudspeaker left front (16/4, 16/29, 16/55)
- loudspeaker right front (16/3, 16/30, 16/56)
- Loudspeaker left rear (16/6, 16/136)
- Loudspeaker right rear (16/5, 16/137)
- Center loudspeaker (16/26) (option).
- Subwoofer (16/79) (option) (only XC60, V70 and XC70)
