Electric Oil Pump (EOP) (Only On Hybrid Vehicles)
The electric oil pump is installed on the front edge of the transmission. It is controlled via the electric oil pump module which is located under the right-hand headlight.
The function of the electric oil pump is to ensure the correct flow to the transmission whilst the automatic start/stop function is active and when the vehicle is run in electric mode.
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) controls the electric oil pump by sending a control signal to the electric oil pump module. The electric oil pump interprets the signal and deploys a PWM signal that drives the electric three-phase motor in the oil pump.
The electric oil pump module monitors the electric oil pump and can detect if a fault occurs. The electric oil pump module continually sends a status signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
