Transmission, Installing
Install in reverse order of removal while noting the following:
-- Check if the alignment sleeves are installed in the engine flange. Refer to OVERVIEW - DRIVE PLATE .
-- Check the plate seating between the engine and the transmission.
- The plate must rest on the entire perimeter of the engine if it is being pressed gently against the engine with both hands.
- If the plate sticks out above the engine, then it is not hooked into the cylinder block correctly.
-- Make sure the torque converter is installed correctly. Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Align the engine/transmission assembly in its installation position. To do so, lift it just enough so that the transmission completely touches the subframe mount.
- Replace all the bolts from the subframe mount.
- Secure all hose connections with hose clamps corresponding to series production. Refer to the Parts Information.
-- Screw in the new bolts -arrows- first by hand.
-- When tightening the bolts -arrows-, the transmission can be aligned with a screwdriver.
AWD Vehicles
-- Install the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX, INSTALLING .
All Vehicles:
-- Install the drive axles. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the starter. Refer to STARTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Attach the selector lever cable to the transmission and adjust it. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
-- Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery .
-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Check the ATF level. Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING .
-- Perform a basic setting using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester under Guided Functions "Perform basic setting".
Tightening Specifications
- Transmission to engine. Refer to TRANSMISSION TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .
