Keyless Entry System Inoperative
NOTE:
Check for good connection between RKE antenna and Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). Also, verify that antenna is routed properly. See Figure
.
- Close all vehicle doors. Press LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on both front door lock switches. If all doors lock and unlock with door switches, go to next step. If all doors do not lock and unlock with door switches, see appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS article.
- Turn on Keyless Entry Tester (J43241). Place transmitter on keyless entry tester pad. Press each button of transmitter one at a time. If a tone does not sound or the Green light does not illuminate after each button is pressed, go to next step. If a tone sounds and the Green light illuminates after each button is pressed, go to step 6 .
- If any button sounds tone and illuminates Green light, go to next step. If none of the buttons sound tone or illuminate the Green light, replace transmitter. Go to step 5 .
- Replace transmitter. Program new transmitter. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. Go to step 9 .
- Replace battery in transmitter. Synchronize transmitter. See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION under PROGRAMMING. Go to step 9 .
- Check Orange wire between RCDLR and instrument panel fuse block for open or poor connections. Check Black wire between RCDLR and ground G201 for open or poor connections. If problem was not found, go to next step. If problem was found, repair as necessary, and go to step 9 .
- Replace RCDLR. See REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK RECEIVER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Program transmitters. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. If system does not function properly, go to next step. If system functions properly, go to step 9 .
- Replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. Go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair.
NOTE:
Inspect keyless entry transmitter to ensure it is correct model for this vehicle. A wrong model transmitter may pass this test, but will not activate vehicle remote system.
