Instrument Panel Cluster Programming/Synchronization

When installing a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), IPC must be synchronized with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) and VIN number must be input. In order to synchronize new IPC, use a scan tool to perform following procedure:

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below steering column, on bottom of knee bolster. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. Using scan tool, select INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER, then SPECIAL FUNCTIONS option. Select SYNCHRONIZE IPC & SIR option, then select YES. IPC and SDM will now synchronize.
2. When synchronization procedure is completed, select the NEW VIN option under SPECIAL FUNCTIONS option. Follow scan tool instructions for updating IPC with a new VIN number, then press SAVE option.
