Circuit Description

Data Link Connector (DLC) is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . DLC provides operating voltage (battery) for scan tool at DLC terminal No. 16 (Orange wire), ground at terminal No. 4 (Black wire), serial 2 data signal data at terminal No. 2 (Purple wire) and signal ground at terminal No. 5 (Black wire). See Figure . Scan tool should power up with ignition switch in LOCK position, although many modules will not communicate unless BCM detects ignition ON signal and sends appropriate power mode message.
