Removal (Sebring Convertible)
- Release fuel pressure from fuel system. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . From inside the trunk, disconnect 4-pin electrical connector for fuel pump module. Electrical connector is located below the carpet on driver's side of vehicle, at base of the strut tower. Push grommet with fuel pump module wiring harness out through the body. Grommet is located near base of rear seat. Go to next step.
- Remove fuel tank cap to release any residual fuel tank pressure. Raise and support vehicle. Remove fuel tank drain plug from driver's side of fuel tank. Drain fuel into an approved gasoline container. Once fuel is drained, reinstall fuel tank drain plug and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Disconnect filler tube from fuel tank. Support fuel tank with transmission jack. Remove passenger's side and then the driver's side fuel tank straps. Slightly lower fuel tank. Disconnect vent and purge lines from fuel tank as necessary.
- Disconnect fuel lines from fuel pump module using proper procedure for fuel line disconnect fitting. See FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS . Fuel pump module is located on top of fuel tank. See Figure.
- Slide fuel tank forward so filler neck clears rear suspension crossmember. Lower fuel tank from vehicle.
