Diagnosis And Testing - Multi-Function Switch: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Intrepid, 2004 Chrysler Intrepid, 2004 Chrysler Concorde, and 2004 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The multi-function switch contains electrical circuitry for turn signal, hazard warning, headlamp beam select, headlamp optical horn, windshield wiper, pulse wipe, and windshield washer switching. Refer to WIPERS/WASHERS . This integrated switch assembly is mounted to the left hand side of the steering column. Should any function of the switch fail, the entire switch assembly must be replaced. Refer to the COMBINATION FLASHER DIAGNOSIS  table.

To test the switch, the switch must first be removed. Refer to REMOVAL . Using an ohmmeter, test for continuity (no resistance) between the terminals of the switch as shown in the TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD SWITCH CONTINUITY table, BEAM SELECT SWITCH CONTINUITY table, (Figure), and (Figure).
