Memory Switch Input Open

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2002 Dodge Caravan, 2002 Chrysler Voyager, and 2002 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform MEMORY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, record and erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off and back on. Operate memory switch several times while monitoring DTCs on scan tool. If MEMORY SWITCH INPUT OPEN resets, go to next step. If MEMORY SWITCH INPUT OPEN does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary. See MEMORY SYSTEMS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  2. Disconnect memory switch connector. See MEMORY SET SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in MEMORY SYSTEMS article. Turn ignition on. Connect a fused jumper wire between memory switch connector terminals. Using scan tool, select SENSORS and monitor MEMORY SELECT SW volts. If voltage is greater than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is one volt or less, replace memory switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C2. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Brown wire between memory switch connector terminal No. 1 and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 24. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Brown wire.
  4. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Yellow wire between memory switch connector terminal No. 2 and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 16. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Yellow wire.
