Windshield Wiper Test 9A - Rear Wiper Not Operating

NOTE: Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition on. Depress rear wiper switch to ON position. If indicator light on switch illuminates, go to next step. If indicator light does not illuminate, go to WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 9B  .
  2. Using scan tool, read rear wiper switch voltage. If voltage is about 2.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 2.5 volts, go to WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 9C  .
  3. Disconnect rear wiper motor connector. Turn ignition and off. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire.
  4. Turn ignition on. Ensure rear wiper switch is still on. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (Brown/Pink wire) on rear wiper motor connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Brown/Pink wire.
  5. Move positive voltmeter probe to terminal No. 1 (Brown/Light Green wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace rear wiper motor. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Connect jumper wire from ground to terminal No. 1 (Brown/Light Green wire) on rear wiper motor connector. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure .
  7. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 49 (Brown/Light Green wire) on connector "B". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Brown/Light Green wire.
