NOTE:
  • Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
  • To avoid damaging the wiring and terminals, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
  • Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring or hoses, or interfere with other parts.

  1. Vehicle - Lift
  2. Hood - Wide Open

    1. Open the hood, and remove the plug cap (a).

    2. Secure it with the hood support rod (b) in the wide-open position (c).

  3. Fuel Pressure - Relieve - Refer to: Fuel Pressure Test or Fuel Pressure Relieving
  4. Air Cleaner Area Parts - Remove
  5. 12V Battery Base Extension - Remove
  6. Front Wheel - Remove
  7. Undercover Area Parts - Remove
    • Undercover Area

        Engine Undercover

      2. -

        Front Floor Undercover (2WD)

      3. -

        Left Middle Floor Undercover (AWD)

  8. Front Grille Cover - Remove
  9. Engine Oil - Drain - Refer to: Engine Oil Level Check or Engine Oil Replacement
  10. Engine Coolant - Drain - Refer to: Coolant Check or Coolant Replacement
  11. Transmission Fluid - Drain
  12. Drive Belt - Remove
  13. Wire Harness/Connector - Disconnect
  14. Hose - Disconnect
  15. Shift Cable (Transmission Side) - Disconnect
  16. Steering Joint - Disconnect
  17. Radiator Area Parts - Remove
  18. Exhaust Pipe A - Remove
  19. Protector - Remove (AWD)
  20. Propeller Shaft - Remove (AWD)
  21. Front Subframe/Steering Gearbox Area Parts - Disconnect

    • Front Suspension Area
      1. -

        Lower Stabilizer Link Ball Joint (Both Sides)

      2. -

        Lower Arm Ball Joint (Both Sides)

      3. -

        Front Driveshaft (Both Sides)

      4. -

        Front Lower Arm Compliance Bush (Both Sides)

  23. Front Subframe - Remove
  24. A/C Compressor - Move
    • A/C Compressor
      NOTE:
      • Do not disconnect and excessively bend the suction hose and the discharge hose.
      • Hang the A/C compressor with a zip tie.
      • Do not allow the A/C compressor to hang by the suction or discharge hose.
  25. Engine - Support

    1. Lift and support the engine with a jack (a) and a wood block under the oil pan.

    2. Remove the side engine mount .

    3. Install the universal lifting eyelet.

    4. Install a chain hoist (c).

    NOTE: Attach a chain hoist to the universal lifting eyelet and the transmission hanger, then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.
  26. Transmission Mount - Disconnect

  27. Engine - Remove
    1. Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of the vacuum hoses, fuel hoses, coolant hoses, and electrical harnesses.

    2. Slowly lower the engine/transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in). Check once again that all the hoses and electrical harnesses are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way and support it.

    3. Remove the chain hoist from the engine/transmission.

    4. Raise the vehicle, and remove the engine/transmission from under the vehicle.

  28. All Removed Parts - Install
    • Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
      NOTE:

      After mounting the side engine mount, the transmission mount, and the torque rod, confirm the tightening procedure before installing the peripheral parts.

  29. Transmission Fluid - Refill
  30. Engine Oil - Refill - Refer to: Engine Oil Level Check or Engine Oil Replacement
  31. Fuel Leak (Low Pressure Side) - Check
  32. Engine Coolant - Refill - Refer to: Coolant Check or Coolant Replacement
  33. Fluid Leak - Check
  34. PCM - Reset - Refer to: PCM Update  or PCM Reset 
  35. CKP Pattern - Clear/Learn 
  36. PCM Idle - Learn 
  37. Idle Speed - Inspect 
  38. Ignition Timing - Inspect
  39. Wheel Alignment - Check
  40. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize - Refer to: VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update
