30 Minute Procedure

  1. Verify battery is fully charged. Use scan tool to clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. With transmission in Park(A/T) or Neutral (M/T), turn ignition switch momentarily to START position (DO NOT start engine) and back to ON position (vehicle should start and stall).
  3. Leave ignition switch in ON position. SECURITY indicator will stay on for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, when light turns off, turn ignition switch to OFF position for 10 seconds.
  4. Repeat steps 2) and 3) two more times. Auto learn procedure will be completed during next start attempt. If VCM/PCM was replaced, reprogram VCM/PCM. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
  5. Check for DTCs. If PassLock(R) codes exist, go to appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If powertrain codes exist, go to applicable test. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE in section. Perform SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
