Charge Warning Light Check
NOTE:
If any fuse is blown, charge warning light will illuminate even if charging system is working properly.
- Perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION . Turn ignition on. If CHARGE warning light illuminates, go to next step. If CHARGE warning light does not illuminate, go to step 6 .
- Start engine. If CHARGE warning light does not turn off, go to next step. If CHARGE warning light turns off, turn ignition off. Disconnect 4-pin generator harness connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between body ground and generator harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage is present, warning light circuit is okay. Perform GENERATOR CONTROL SYSTEM TEST . If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between generator and instrument panel fuse/relay block.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect generator 4-pin harness connector. Turn ignition on. If CHARGE warning light illuminates, go to next step. If CHARGE warning light does not illuminate, perform GENERATOR/REGULATOR TEST .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 16-pin Integrated Control (IC) unit harness connector. IC unit is located behind left kick panel, behind fuse/relay block. Turn ignition on. If CHARGE warning light does not illuminate, go to next step. If CHARGE warning light illuminates, repair short to ground in White/Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition off. Replace IC unit with a known-good unit. Recheck system operation. If CHARGE warning light still does not operate as indicated, replace ABS control unit (located behind right kick panel) with a known-good unit. Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 4 (15-amp) located in instrument panel fuse/relay block. Replace fuse as necessary and recheck system operation. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect 4-pin generator harness connector. Connect a jumper wire between generator harness connector terminal No. 3 (White/Blue wire) and ground. Turn ignition on. If CHARGE warning light illuminates, perform GENERATOR/REGULATOR TEST . If CHARGE warning light does not illuminate, check for blown indicator light bulb. Replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, repair open in White/Blue wire between generator and CHARGE warning light.
