Windshield Wiper Test 6A - Wiper Speed Sensitive Feature Inoperative

NOTE: Perform POWER WINDOW TEST 1A  before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAM. See WIPER/WASHER SYSTEM article. Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Adjust wipers to lowest intermittent position. Time intervals between wipes. Spin wear wheels to a speed above 15 MPH. If interval between wipes decrease to about 18 seconds, System is function okay at this time. If interval between wipes do not decrease to about 18 seconds, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, access wiper system monitor. If vehicle speed displayed on scan tool agrees with speedometer, replace BCM. If vehicle speed displayed on scan tool does not agree with speedometer, repair as required. See the appropriate TESTS W/CODES in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
