Passenger Door Module
NOTE:
If power lock system operates, but remote keyless entry system lock and/or unlock functions are inoperative, see REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER
test.
- Check fuse No. 15 (25-amp) in fuse box. Fuse box is located behind right kick panel. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, check for cause of blown fuse and repair as necessary. Install new fuse and check system operation.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove passenger front door trim. See FRONT DOOR TRIM under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect Passenger Door Module (PDM) 8-pin White connector. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 6 (Black wire) at 8-pin wiring harness connector. See Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire ground circuit.
- If problem being diagnosed is not inoperative power lock switch illumination, go to step 5). If problem being diagnosed is inoperative power lock switch illumination, connect negative battery cable. Check circuit breaker and replace as necessary. See CIRCUIT BREAKER . If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Tan wire) at PDM 8-pin wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is not present, repair open circuit. If battery voltage is present, replace PDM.
- If problem being diagnosed is other than an inoperative door lock inhibit feature or a power lock system that responds to an unlock command, but not a lock command, go to step 7). If problem being diagnosed is an inoperative door lock inhibit feature or a power lock system that responds to an unlock command, but not a lock command, ensure driver door is closed. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 8 (Light Blue wire) at PDM 8-pin wiring harness connector. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists repair short to ground in Light Blue wire.
- With key in ignition switch or with headlight switch on, open driver door. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 8 (Light Blue wire) at PDM 8-pin wiring harness connector. If continuity exists, go to step 8). If continuity does not exist, repair open Light Blue wire.
- Connect negative battery cable. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Red wire) at PDM 8-pin wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open circuit.
- Disconnect PDM 12-pin connector. Check PDM power lock switch continuity between PDM connector terminals as specified. See PDM CONTINUITY TEST . If continuity is not as specified, replace PDM. If continuity is as specified, PDM is okay. See POWER LOCK MOTOR test.
