Power Lock Motor Testing

  1. If only one power lock motor is inoperative, go to step 3). If all motors are inoperative, problem may be caused by one shorted motor. Disconnect each power lock motor connector, one at a time and recheck lock and unlock functions by operating power lock switch.
  2. If disconnecting a motor causes other motors to function, go to next step to test inoperative motor. If all motors are still inoperative, check for an open or short circuit between Passenger Door Module (PDM) and power lock motors. See WIRING DIAGRAM  .
  3. Using jumper wires, apply 12 volts to motor terminals to verify motor operation in one direction. Reverse polarity to check operation in other direction. If motor fails to operate in either direction, replace power lock motor. If motor functions properly, check circuits to PDM and repair as necessary. See PASSENGER DOOR MODULE  .
