Information Center Test 5C - Service 4WD Switch Message

NOTE: Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 5A  before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAM and DOOR LOCKS - POWER & KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM article. Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Disconnect information center 20-pin connector. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminals No. 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19. If resistance is less than 200 ohms on any circuit, go to next step. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater on any circuit, replace information center.
  2. Disconnect transfer case switch. Switch is located on top left side of transfer case. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminals No. 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19. If resistance is less than 200 ohms on any circuit, repair appropriate circuit for short to ground. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater on any circuit, replace transfer case switch.
