Information Center Test 5G - Service 4WD Switch Message

NOTE: Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 5A  before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAM and DOOR LOCKS - POWER & KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM article. Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Disconnect information center 20-pin connector. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminals No. 15 and 19 on information center 20-pin connector. If resistance is less than 200 ohms on either circuit, go to next step. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater on both circuits, go to step 6).
  2. Measure resistance between ground and terminals No. 14, 17 and 18 on information center 20-pin connector. If resistance is less than 200 ohms on any circuit, go to next step. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater on any circuit, replace information center.
  3. Disconnect transfer case switch. Switch is located on top left side of transfer case. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 14 (Black/Red wire) on information center connector. If resistance is less than 200 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater, repair Black/Red wire for short to ground.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 17 (Yellow/Black wire) on information center connector. If resistance is less than 200 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater, repair Yellow/Black wire for short to ground.
  5. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 18 (Light Blue/Red wire) on information center connector. If resistance is less than 200 ohms, replace transfer case switch. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater, repair Light Blue/Red wire for short to ground.
  6. Disconnect transfer case switch. Switch is located on top left side of transfer case. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 2 on transfer case switch connector. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 15 (Gray/Orange wire) on information center connector. If resistance is less than 200 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater, repair open Gray/Orange wire.
  7. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 3 on transfer case switch connector. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 19 (Light Green/Orange wire) on information center connector. If resistance is less than 200 ohms, replace transfer case switch. If resistance is 200 ohms or greater, repair Light Green/Orange wire for short.
