Information Center Test 4A - Rear Lamp Failure Message

NOTE: Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Refer to DOOR LOCKS - POWER & KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM article. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Close all doors and clear messages. Turn headlights on. Step on brake pedal. Monitor information center display. If REAR LAMP FAILURE is displayed, go to next step. If REAR LAMP FAILURE is not displayed, system is currently functioning correctly.
  2. With headlights on and brake pedal depressed, ensure all lights are working correctly. Repair as needed. Disconnect information center 20-pin connector. Go to next step.
  3. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Light Blue/Black wire) on information center connector. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 9 volts, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 4B  .
  4. If voltage is .3-.8 volts, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 4C  . Turn ignition off. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Light Blue/Black wire) on information center connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace information center.
  5. Disconnect lamp outage module connectors. Lamp outage module is located behind inner quarter panel, behind spare tire. See Fig 1 . Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Light Blue/Black wire) on information center connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Blue/Black wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace lamp outage module.
