Battery IOD Disconnect At Body Control Module (BCM)

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Turn ignition off, then back on. Read DTCs. If scan tool displays BATTERY IOD DISCONNECT AT BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not display BATTERY IOD DISCONNECT AT BCM, test is complete. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Remove and inspect Power Distribution Center (PDC) fuse No. 15 (50-amp). See Figure. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse No. 15. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Disconnect junction block 2-pin connector C4. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and junction block connector C4 terminal No. 1 (Pink/White wire). If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink/White wire between junction block and PDC. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Remove and inspect junction block fuse No. 7 (10-amp). If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, go to step  6.
  5. Remove BCM from back of junction block. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 26 on BCM junction block connector. See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Turn ignition off. Remove junction block fuse No. 7. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and fused B+ terminal on fuse No. 7 cavity. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in fused B+ circuit. Replace fuse. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace defective fuse. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
