Unable To Communicate With Driver's Door Module (DDM) &/Or Passenger's Door Module (PDM) Using Scan Tool

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY then BODY COMPUTER. If scan tool communicates with Body Control Module (BCM), go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, go to PCI BUS COMMUNICATIONS FAILURE . Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Using scan tool, check for BCM DTCs. If no BCM DTCs are set, go to next step. If any BCM DTCs are set, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE  table under RETRIEVING & CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM and perform appropriate diagnosis and testing procedure. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 22 (10-amp) from junction block. See Figure. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, check for short to ground in junction block between fuse No. 22 and BCM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Ensure fuse No. 22 is installed in junction block. Remove BCM from junction block. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between junction block BCM connector terminal No. 5 and ground. See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 28 (10-amp) from junction block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, check for short to ground in junction block between fuse No. 28 and BCM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Ensure fuse No. 28 is installed in junction block. Using DVOM, measure voltage between junction block BCM connector terminal No. 25 and ground. See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  7. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
