Cruise Indicator Not Operating Properly

NOTE: Ensure communication can be established with Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC), Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) before performing test procedure.
  1. Turn ignition off. Press and hold TRIP/RESET button on instrument panel. Turn ignition on. MIC self-test will start. CRUISE indicator and PRNDL indicator should flash for approximately 5 seconds during MIC self-test. If CRUISE indicator light illuminates for 3-6 seconds, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator light does not illuminate for 3-6 seconds, replace instrument cluster printed circuit board. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. If CRUISE indicator turns off when cruise control is turned off, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator stays on when cruise control is turned off, replace instrument cluster printed circuit board. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Turn ignition on and read ENGINE DTCs using scan tool. If any ENGINE DTCs exist, go to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - GRAND CHEROKEE article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If no PCM DTCs are present, test is complete. If no ENGINE DTCs are present, test is complete.
