Low Fuel Indicator Not Operating Properly

  1. Inspect operation of fuel gauge. If fuel gauge operating correctly, go to next step. If fuel gauge is not operating correctly, go to FUEL GAUGE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY .
  2. Turn ignition off. Press and hold TRIP/RESET button on instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) self-test will start. If LOW FUEL indicator light illuminates for about 4 seconds and then goes out, test is complete. If LOW FUEL indicator light does not illuminate for about 4 seconds and then go out, go to next step.
  3. Remove and inspect LOW FUEL indicator bulb. Replace as needed. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
  4. Replace instrument cluster printed circuit board. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
