Temperature Gauge Not Operating Properly

  1. Turn ignition off. Press and hold TRIP/RESET button on instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) self-test will start. All gauges including temperature gauge should sweep from zero to full scale, and back to zero. If all gauges pass self-test, go to next step. If temperature gauge fails self-test, replace temperature gauge pack. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If all gauges fail self-test, go to ALL GAUGES INOPERATIVE . Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Using scan tool, read ENGINE DTCs. If any ENGINE DTCs are present, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - GRAND CHEROKEE article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If no ENGINE DTCs are present, test is complete.
