A/C Control Illumination Lights Inoperative

  1. Disconnect A/C-heater control panel connectors. On manual A/C system, connect test light between A/C connector C1 terminals No. 2 (Black/Orange wire) and 7 (Orange wire). See Figure. On automatic A/C system, connect test light between A/C connector C1 terminal No. 8 (Black wire) and Automatic Zone Control (AZC) module connector C2 terminal No. 6 (Orange wire). See Figure and Figure . Turn on instrument panel lights. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light is illuminated, replace defective A/C-heater control panel assembly. See appropriate MANUAL A/C-HEATER or AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. On manual systems, using DVOM, measure resistance between A/C-heater control panel connector C1 terminal No. 2 (Black/Orange wire) and ground. On automatic systems, using DVOM, measure resistance between AZC module connector C1 terminal No. 8 (Black wire) and ground. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black or Black/Orange wire between A/C-heater control panel and ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. See Figure. On manual systems, using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange wire between A/C-heater control panel connector C1 terminal No. 7 and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 10. On automatic systems, using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange wire between AZC module connector C2 terminal No. 6 and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 10. See Figure. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
