Ashtray Light Inoperative

  1. Using scan tool, read BODY DTCs. If PARK LIGHT RELAY CKT SHORTED LO/OPEN DTC is not present, go to next step. If PARK LIGHT RELAY CKT SHORTED LO/OPEN DTC is present, go to PARK LIGHT RELAY CKT SHORTED LO/OPEN  under EXTERIOR LIGHTING.
  2. Remove and inspect ashtray light bulb. Replace as needed. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ashtray light connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Black wire between ground and ashtray light connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between ashtray and ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Ensure ashtray light connector is disconnected. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM connector C1 terminal No. 8 (Orange wire) and ashtray light connector. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
