Dim Sw Open Ckt

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM connector C1 terminals No. 3 (Red wire) and 16 (White/Dark Green wire). See Figure. Monitor DVOM while rotating panel lights dimmer switch. If resistance does not vary from 60 to 7900 ohms, go to next step. If resistance varies from 60 to 7900 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Disconnect left multifunction switch connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Red wire between BCM connector C1 terminal No. 3 on and left multifunction switch connector terminal No. 10. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Red wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 3 (Red wire). If no voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is present, repair short to voltage in Red wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Dark Green wire between BCM connector C1 terminal No. 16 and left multifunction switch connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in White/Dark Green wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 16 (White/Dark Green wire). If no voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is present, repair short to voltage in White/Dark Green wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Turn ignition off. Connect BCM connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between left multifunction switch connector terminals No. 10 (Red wire) and 4 (White/Dark Green wire) on. Monitor DVOM while rotating panel lights dimmer switch. If resistance does not vary from 60 to 7900 ohms, go to next step. If resistance varies from 60 to 7900 ohms, replace left multifunction switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  7. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
