Light Fade Failure Short To Battery
NOTE:
Turn ignition off. Remove each of the following listed bulbs one at a time. Applicable bulbs are; instrument panel footwell (2), rear reading (2), front overhead (2) and liftgate. Proceed with step 1. When step 1 is completed, leave bulb out and remove another bulb. Repeat step 1 until problem circuit is found or all bulbs are removed.
- Remove bulb. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Read BCM DTCs. If LIGHT FADE FAILURE SHORT TO BATTERY is displayed, go to next step. If LIGHT FADE FAILURE SHORT TO BATTERY is not displayed, replace defective bulb and reinstall all bulbs that were removed. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove fuse No. 8 (15-amp) located in junction block. Disconnect BCM connector C1. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 24 (Yellow wire). See Figure. If voltage is not indicated, go to next step. If voltage is indicated, repair short to voltage in Yellow wire between BCM and courtesy lights. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect junction block connector C1. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure voltage between junction block connector C1 terminal No. 16 (Yellow/Dark Green wire) and ground. See Figure. If voltage is not indicated, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If voltage is indicated, repair short to voltage in Yellow/Dark Green wire between junction block and light switch or courtesy light. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
