Load Shed Failure Short To Battery
- Turn ignition off. Remove glove box light bulb. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase all Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Recheck for BCM DTCs. If LOAD SHED FAILURE SHORT TO BATT DTC is present, go to step 3. If LOAD SHED FAILURE SHORT TO BATT DTC is not present, replace defective glove box light bulb. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Ensure glove box door is closed and light switch is off. Disconnect BCM connector C1. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between BCM connector C1 terminal No. 23 (Brown/Orange wire) and ground. If voltage is not indicated, go to next step. If voltage is indicated, repair short to voltage in Brown/Orange wire between BCM and glove box light. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure overhead, rear reading and vanity light switches are off. Disconnect junction block connector C1. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 26 (Yellow/Black wire) on junction block connector C1. See Figure. If voltage is present, repair short to voltage in Yellow/Black wire. If no voltage is present, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
