Overhead, Rear & Liftgate Courtesy Lights Inoperative

  1. Remove and inspect inoperative light bulb(s). Replace as needed. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If all bulbs are okay, go to next step.
  2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Pink wire) on suspect courtesy light assembly connector. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink wire between suspect light and splice S304. S304 is located at bottom of "B" pillar. See Fig 1. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Disconnect junction block connector C1. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Yellow/Dark Green wire between suspect courtesy light connector terminal No. 3 and junction block connector C1 terminal No. 16. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Yellow/Dark Green wire between suspect light and splice S348. S348 is located near harness breakout for day/night mirror at top of windshield. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Remove and inspect inoperative light bulb(s). Replace as needed. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If all bulbs are okay, go to next step.
  5. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Yellow/Dark Green wire between suspect courtesy light connector terminal No. 3 and junction block connector C1 terminal No. 16. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Yellow/Dark Green wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Reconnect junction block connector C1. Turn dome light switch on. Remove fuse No. 8 (15-amp) located in junction block. Using DVOM, backprobe and measure resistance between junction block connector C1 terminal No. 16 (Yellow/Dark Green) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, test is complete. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
