Ambient Temperature Sensor Ckt Short To Ground

  1. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor. Sensor is located on right side of front grille, next to headlight. Connect a jumper wire between sensor connector terminals. Turn ignition on and close all doors. Monitor Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) display. If EVIC does not display OPEN CIRCUIT, go to next step. If EVIC displays OPEN CIRCUIT, replace ambient temperature sensor.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C2. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM connector C2 terminal No. 9 (Dark Green/Red wire) and ground. See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Red wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM connector C2 terminal No. 20 (Dark Blue/Orange wire) and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
