Bus Messages Missing

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, access Body Control Module (BCM) and select BODY CONTROLLER. If BCM responds to scan tool, go to next step. If BCM does not respond to scan tool, go to BUS +/- SIGNAL OPEN FROM BODY CONTROL MODULE  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  2. Using scan tool, select SYSTEM TEST. If scan tool displays PCM ACTIVE ON BUS, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PCM ACTIVE ON BUS, go to NO RESPONSE FROM POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCI BUS)  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  3. Using scan tool, select ELECTROMECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (MIC). If MIC responds to scan tool, go to next step. If MIC does not respond to scan tool, go to BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN FROM MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (MIC)  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  4. If scan tool displays TEST FAILED: BUS MESSAGE FAILURE, replace MIC. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. If scan tool does not display TEST FAILED: BUS MESSAGE FAILURE, test is complete. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
