EVIC Self Test

NOTE: This test will verify operation of Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC).
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, access BODY, VIC, SYSTEM TEST then SELF TEST. Press any key to start EVIC self-test. If TEST FAILURE: EVIC INTERNAL FAILURE is displayed, go to next step. If TEST FAILURE: BUS MESSAGE MISSING is displayed, go to step  3. If TEST SUCCESSFUL is displayed, test is complete. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Replace EVIC. See ELECTRONIC VEHICLE INFORMATION CENTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY CONTROL MODULE then BODY CONTROLLER. If BCM responds to scan tool, go to next step. If BCM does not respond to scan tool, go to BUS +/- SIGNAL OPEN FROM BODY CONTROL MODULE  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  4. Using scan tool, select SYSTEM TEST. If scan tool displays PCM ACTIVE ON BUS, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PCM ACTIVE ON BUS, go to NO RESPONSE FROM POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCI BUS)  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  5. Using scan tool, select ELECTROMECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (MIC). If MIC responds to scan tool, go to next step. If MIC does not respond to scan tool, go to BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN FROM MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (MIC)  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  6. If scan tool displays TEST FAILED: BUS MESSAGE FAILURE, replace MIC. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If scan tool does not display TEST FAILED: BUS MESSAGE FAILURE, test is complete. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
