Passenger Memory Mirror Inoperative
- Ensure communication can be established with Driver's Door Module (DDM), Passenger's Door Module (PDM) and Body Control Module (BCM). Ensure door ajar, mirror select and power mirror adjustment switches are operating properly. If one or more switches are inoperative, replace DDM. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If switches are operational and communication can be established, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read PAS MIRROR HORIZ VOLTS. Operate mirror from left to right using switch and note voltage reading on scan tool. If voltage varies from 1-4 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not vary from 1-4 volts, go to step 5.
- Using scan tool, read PAS MIRROR VERT VOLTS. Operate mirror up and down using switch and note voltage reading on scan tool. If voltage varies from 1-4 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not vary from 1-4 volts, go to step 5.
- Replace PDM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove driver's inner door trim panel. Disconnect passenger's power mirror connector. Disconnect PDM connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Gray wire between passenger's power mirror connector terminal No. 4 and PDM connector C2 terminal No. 4. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Gray wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Connect PDM connector C2. Turn ignition off and ensure all lights are off. Using DVOM, measure resistance between passenger's power mirror connector terminal No. 4 (Gray wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PDM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between passenger's power mirror connector terminal No. 5 (Dark Green wire) and ground. If voltage is approximately 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, go to step 10.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between passenger's power mirror connector terminal No. 3 (Violet wire) and ground. If voltage is approximately 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, go to step 10.
- Replace passenger's power mirror assembly. See appropriate POWER MIRRORS article.
- Disconnect PDM connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PDM connector C2 terminal No. 4 (Gray wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between PDM connector C2 terminals No. 4 (Gray wire) and No. 5 (Dark Green wire). If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short between Gray and Dark Green wires. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between PDM connector C2 terminal No. 5 (Dark Green wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between PDM connector C2 terminal No. 3 (Violet wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Dark Green wire between PDM connector C2 terminal No. 5 and passenger's power mirror connector terminal No. 5. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Green wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet wire between PDM connector C2 terminal No. 3 and passenger's power mirror connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace PDM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
