Driver's Window Inoperative
- Using scan tool, select BODY, DOOR MODULES, then ACTUATORS. Actuate DRV F WIN UP RLY, then DRV F WIN DN RLY. If driver's window does not operate in both directions, go to next step. If driver's window operates in both directions, replace Driver's Door Module (DDM). See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove driver's door trim panel. Disconnect DDM connector C1. Connect a jumper wire between DDM connector C1 terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 15 (White wire). Connect a second jumper wire to terminal No. 13 (Light Blue wire) and momentarily touch other end of jumper wire to DDM connector C1 terminal No. 1 (Tan/Light Blue wire). See Figure. Window motor should operate. Reverse jumper wire ends on terminals No. 13 and 15. Motor should operate in opposite direction. If motor does not operate as specified, go to next step. If motor operates as specified, replace DDM. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between DDM connector C1 terminals No. 13 (Light Blue wire) and No. 15 (White wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, measure resistance between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 15 (White wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, go to step 7. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, measure voltage between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 15 (White wire). If voltage is greater than 0.2 volt, go to step 10. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, greater than 1000 ohms or voltage is less than 0.2 volt, check for binding window regulator. If regulator is okay, replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect driver's power window motor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Blue wire between driver's power window motor connector terminal No. 1 and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 13. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of White wire between driver's power window motor connector terminal No. 1 and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 15. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect driver's power window motor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 13 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 15 (White wire). If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in White wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect driver's power window motor connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 13 (Light Blue wire). If voltage is not indicated, go to next step. If any voltage is indicated, repair short to voltage in Light Blue wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 15 (White wire). If voltage is not indicated, test is complete. If any voltage is indicated, repair short to voltage in White wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
