Washer Fluid Sensor Failure

  1. Using scan tool, access BCM SENSORS. Turn ignition on. Read WASHER FLUID LEVEL SWITCH VOLTAGE. If scan tool displays voltage greater than 4.8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4.8 volts, go to step  6.
  2. Inspect washer fluid level switch connector. Repair as needed. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If washer fluid level switch connector is okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect washer fluid level switch connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance is between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) on switch connector. If resistance is less 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Using scan tool, access BCM SENSORS. Turn ignition on. Backprobe a jumper wire between ground and washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Tan wire). Read WASHER FLUID LEVEL SWITCH VOLTAGE. If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is one volt or greater, replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Using DVOM, measure resistance between washer fluid level switch connector terminals (of switch). If resistance is less than 3500 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 3500 ohms or greater, replace washer fluid level switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Using scan tool, access BCM SENSORS. Turn ignition on. Backprobe a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black/Tan wire) on washer fluid level switch connector. Read WASHER FLUID LEVEL SWITCH VOLTAGE. If voltage is less than one volt, test is complete. If voltage is one volt or greater, replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
