Body Control Module (BCM)
REMOVAL
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available).
After performing a flash programming procedure on a Body Control Module (BCM), the vehicle must be driven above 20 km/h (13 mph) to make sure all vehicle functions will operate normally.
- Remove the right cowl trim panel. Refer to PANEL, COWL TRIM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the right instrument panel silencer panel. Refer to PANEL, SILENCER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
1 - Wire Harness Connectors 2 - Nut 3 - Body Control Module (BCM) - Disconnect the wire harness connectors from the BCM on the right side foot well.
- Remove the nut securing the BCM.
- Pull the BCM away from the stud and remove the module from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
During installation torque the following fasteners to specification:
- Install the BCM in the vehicle and tighten the nut to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Inspect the BCM and wire harness connectors for any damage.
- Perform BCM programming. Refer to IMMOBILIZER MODULES REPLACEMENT .
- After performing a flash programming procedure on the BCM, the vehicle must be driven above 20 km/h (13 mph) to verify all vehicle functions operate normally.
If the BCM does not program, disconnect the battery, wait 15 seconds, reconnect the battery and run the BCM immobilizer replace routine again.
