Repair Procedures: Replacement
- When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver or use a prying trim tool, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts, to prevent damage.
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/recycling/charging station.
- When the engine is cool, drain the engine coolant from the radiator.
G 1.6 T-GDI GAMMA II (Refer to " Replacement And Air Bleeding " )
G 2.5 T-GDI THETA III (Refer to " Replacement and Air Bleeding " )
- Remove the cowl top cover.

- Remove the expansion valve cover (A) by loosening the mounting nut.
Tightening torque:
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)
- Remove the expansion valve (A) from the evaporator core by loosening the mounting bolts.
Tightening torque:
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Plug or cap the lines immediately after disconnecting them to avoid moisture and dust contamination.
- When installing, replace with a new O-ring.
- Separate the heater hose (A) and (B).CAUTION:
- Engine coolant will run out when the hoses are disconnected; drain it into a clean drip pan. Be sure not to let coolant spill on electrical parts or painted surfaces. If any coolant spills, rinse it off immediately.
- Loosen the cowl cross bar mounting bolts.
- Remove the front seat assembly.

- Remove the floor console assembly.

- Remove the crash pad center panel.

- Remove the front pillar trim.

- Remove the cowl side trim.

- Remove the steering column shroud lower panel.

- Remove the steering wheel.

- Remove the multifunction switch.
(Refer to " Removal ")
- Lower the steering column after loosening the mounting bolts.

- Remove the accelerator pedal.

- Separate the floor carpet (A) to obtain space for removing the rear heating duct.
- Remove the rear heating duct (A).
- Disconnect the airbag control module (SRSCM) connector (A).
- Disconnect the connector (A) by loosening the front pillar mounting clips.

- Disconnect the junction box connectors (A).
- Disconnect the multi box connectors (A).

- Remove the drain hose (A).
- Loosen the lower mounting bolt of the blower unit.
Tightening torque:
3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)

- Remove the plug holes (A).
- Loosen the cowl cross bar side mounting bolts.

- Remove the crash pad and heater and blower unit assembly (A) together after loosening the bolts and nuts.
- Remove the integrated body control unit.

- Remove the heater control unit.
(Refer to " Replacement ")
- Remove the surround view monitor (SVM).

- Remove the parking collision-avoidance assist (PCA).
(Refer to " Removal ")
- Remove the parking collision-avoidance assist (PCA) unit bracket (A) after loosening the bolts and screws.
- Disconnect the heater and blower unit connectors and wiring.

- Remove the heater and blower unit (A) from the crash pad by loosening the mounting nuts, and bolts.
- Separate the heater unit (A) and blower unit (B) by loosening the mounting screws.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Make sure connectors are connected properly.
