Steering Shift Switch Inspection

WARNING:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the driver-side air bag module. (Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) (Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) (Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) (Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
  3. Disconnect the steering shift switch wiring harness connector.

  4. Remove the column cover. (Refer to COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Using a precision flathead screwdriver, release the tab.

  6. Measure the continuity between steering shift switch wiring harness connector terminals A-B and terminals D-E.

    Switch Terminal Test condition Continuity
    Up switch A-B Up switch is operated (up switch is pulled outward) Continuity
    Up switch is not operated (up switch is not pulled outward) No continuity
    Down switch D-E Down switch is operated (down switch is pulled outward) Continuity
    Down switch is not operated (down switch is not pulled outward) No continuity
