Steering Shift Switch Removal/Installation
WARNING:
- Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. - Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) - Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the steering shift switch wiring harness connector.
- Detach the tabs of the cover in the area circled by a dashed line and open the cover.
- Using a precision flathead screwdriver, release the tab.
- Remove the screw.
- Remove the steering shift switch component from the gap in the opening of the cover.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
