After the ignition is switched on power is supplied to the transponder. The contents of the data block is transferred inductively from the transponder via the transponder coil (L11) to the drive authorization system infrared control module (N54/1) where it is evaluated.
If valid the engine control is released analog to drive authorization system 2 via the CAN data bus from the DAS infrared control module (N54/1) to the engine control module.
If the transponder is not valid or power cannot be built up for the transponder, the engine control is not released. The red and green confirmation lamps in the interior mirror come on alternatingly.
Drive authorization is independent of the locking status of the infrared remote control and the batteries in the IR remote control key.
