General
The side windows can be opened and closed with the hydraulic window lifters.
The side windows can be opened and closed via the following control points:
- Power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group, driver side
- Power window switch, driver side
- Power window switch, front passenger side
- Left rear power window switch
- Right rear power window switch
- Power window switch, front passenger side
- Left rear door switch group:
- Left rear side window roller sun blind and power window switch
- Right rear side window roller sun blind and power window switch
- Right rear door switch group:
- Right rear side window roller sun blind and power window switch
- Left rear side window roller sun blind and power window switch
The vehicle can be equipped with less than four power windows. In this case, the power window buttons are present but have no function.
Function requirements
- Circuit 15 R on or
- Control unit power-down active
- Child safety lock not active or
- Activate power window child-proof locks in rear (CODE Z29) not available (in the case of operation from rear)
Control unit power-down:
The hydraulic power window assemblies can still be operated for approx. 5 minutes after switching off circuit 15 R or until the driver or front passenger door is opened.
With code Z29 (Activate power window child-proof locks in rear), the rear power windows can only be controlled by the driver via the power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group. Only the roller sunblinds can be operated from the rear.
Function
Open or close side window
Actuate and hold down corresponding power window switch in the opening or closing direction. Actuate as long as the request is present. A reversing function or an automatic operation for opening or closing is not available.
If an active request is present, the corresponding front door control unit or rear door control unit actuates the solenoid valve in the corresponding power window valve unit directly. Simultaneously the power window hydraulic pump is switched on via the power window hydraulic pump temperature sensor or power window hydraulic pump relay. The power window hydraulic pump proves the hydraulic flow required to open and close the side windows. Depending on the actuated solenoid valve, the side window is opened or closed.
If the corresponding rear side window is closed completely, the hydraulic power window rear door limit switch is actuated. The rear door control unit directly reads in the signals from the hydraulic rear door power window limit switch. The side window roller sunblind only closes if the power window is fully closed. If the roller sunblind is opened via the automatic operation, the power window can already be opened while the roller sunblind is still being lowered.
Temperature monitor
The temperature of the corresponding power window hydraulic pump is monitored by the power window hydraulic pump temperature switch. When the permissible operating temperature is exceeded, the power window hydraulic pump is switched off by the power window hydraulic pump temperature switch via the power window hydraulic pump relay. Switching on is only possible when the temperature has dropped below the threshold.
Emergency actuation depends on the status of the power window hydraulic pump.

Emergency operation
Oil is stored under pressure in the pressure reservoir for the emergency actuation function. In the case of a fault in the electrics, leaks around the hydraulic fluid reservoir or a faulty power window hydraulic pump, the respective side window can still be operated. This operation can only be performed, as long as sufficient pressure is present in the pressure reservoir (approx. one to two actuations). For this purpose it is necessary to remove the cover in the front area of the corresponding door panel. The emergency closing operating lever (top) and the emergency opening operating lever (bottom) are located below the cover.
Output of fault messages
A message is output by the instrument cluster in the event of a malfunction to indicate errors to the driver. The front door control unit or rear door control unit transmits the corresponding request via the interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and user interface CAN to the instrument cluster.
