4MATIC Front Axle Transmission Output, Function - GF28.10-P-1012AVG
MODEL 205, 253 with transmission 725.041
Shown here is a transfer case with double planetary gear set
Front axle output shaft
The transfer case and front axle transmission are connected to each other through the drive shaft (5).
The drive shaft (5) transfers the output torque from the front axle transmission output (4) to the front axle transmission, where its is then pushed onto the drive-type splines of the front axle transmission output (4).
A universal joint (3) is integrated into the driven gear front axle transmission output of the front axle transmission output (4).
Straight assembly of the universal joints (3) is necessary in order to ensure uniform transfer of rotation.
On the front axle transmission side, the drive shaft (5) is bolted through the propeller shaft flange (7) to the drive pinion of the front axle transmission.
Generally, a universal joint (3) that runs under an angular offset generates an unequal rotary motion. This irregular rotary motion is compensated for when the angular offsets are equal and located on a common plane.
