DTC B2417: DRL Control Module Circuit (Shorted To Ground Or Open): Testing
- Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect BCM connector C1. Connect test light between BCM connector C1 terminal C9 (Pink/White wire) and ground. See Figure . If test light comes on, go to step 8 . If test light does not come on, go to next step.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM connector C1 terminal C9 and ground. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If continuity is present, go to step 5 .
- With DVOM connected as in previous step, disconnect DRL control module connector. DRL control module is located under left side of dash, left of steering column. If resistance is infinite, go to step 9 . If continuity is present, go to step 6 .
- Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe DRL module connector terminal "B" (Pink/White wire). If test light comes on, go to step 14 . If test light does not come on, go to step 7 .
- Connect test light between DRL module connector C1 terminal "A" (Orange wire) and battery voltage. If test light comes on, go to step 11 . If test light does not come on, go to step 12 .
- Connect test light between DRL module connector terminal "A" (Black wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to step 12 . If test light does not come on, go to step 13 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reinstall components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Start engine. Recheck for BCM DTCs. If DTC B2417 resets as current, go to step 10 . If DTC B2417 does not reset as current, go to step 15 .
- Repair short to ground in Pink/White wire between BCM connector and DRL module connector. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform new BCM setup. See NEW BCM SETUP under PROGRAMMING. After replacing BCM, go to step 16 .
- Repair short to ground in Orange wire between DRL module and LF PARK fuse (30-amp) located in underhood accessory junction block. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Replace DRL control module. After replacing DRL control module, go to step 16 .
- Repair poor connection or open in Orange wire between DRL module and LF PARK fuse (30-amp) located in underhood accessory junction block. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Repair poor connection or open in Pink/White wire between BCM and DRL module. After repairs, go to step 16 .
- Symptom is not present at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS for additional diagnostic information.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
