Removal & Installation
- Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) is located on brake master cylinder. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove air cleaner housing from engine compartment. See AIR CLEANER HOUSING .
- Remove master cylinder mount nuts. Remove master cylinder and place master cylinder aside. Disconnect EBCM harness connector. Brush off any dirt/debris that has accumulated on assembly. Disconnect pump motor connector at bottom of EBCM.
- Remove 6 EBCM-to-BPMV screws. Separate EBCM from BPMV by gently pulling apart until separated.
- Clean EBCM and BPMV surfaces with alcohol using a clean rag. Install EBCM to BPMV. Install 6 EBCM-to-BPMV screws. Tighten top 4 mounting screws to 26 INCH lbs. (2.9 N.m). Tighten screws in an "X" pattern. Tighten bottom 2 mounting screws to 26 INCH lbs. (2.9 N.m).
- Install master cylinder to brake booster. Install 2 master cylinder mount nuts and tighten nuts to 18 ft. lbs (25 N.m). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. After repair, perform ANTI-LOCK BRAKE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
NOTE:
DO NOT disconnect master cylinder brake lines in this step.
CAUTION:
DO NOT pry EBCM from Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) using a tool. Be careful not to damage BPMV surface. Care must be taken not to damage solenoid valves when EBCM is removed from the BPMV.
