System Overview

Trionic engine management system uses an Electronic Control Module (ECM) located behind a partition on passenger side of engine compartment. See Fig 1, Fig 3 or Fig 4 .

If any monitored malfunction is detected by ECM, Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will display CHECK ENGINE on instrument cluster and a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be stored in ECM memory. MIL may also be referred to as CHECK ENGINE light. DTCs can be retrieved or erased using a scan tool connected to Data Link Connector (DLC). See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES .
