Description of Keyless Start System Parts and Functions

CONSTRUCTION / FUNCTION CHART

Part	Construction/Function
Keyless start control module	Installed on underside of instrument panel at driver's seat side. Transmits information through CAN communication between ECM, BCM, and combination meter, etc. Monitors status of each request switch, door switch and engine switch. Make requests for locking and unlocking doors, opening trunk lid, starting engine, and releasing steering lock.
Remote controller	Receives request signal from each antenna. Transmits ID code and request signal to keyless entry/TPMS receiver. Also includes the following equipment and functions. Operation indicator light When battery level falls with engine switch ON, transmits signal to keyless start control module to indicating remote controller battery is run down and displays "KEY FOB LOW BATTERY" in information display to alert driver to replace battery. Emergency key to lock or unlock doors when keyless start system does not operate because of run down battery, etc. Lock/unlock buttons to lock or unlock doors using keyless entry system function. Trunk lid open button to open trunk lid.
Engine switch	Located on instrument panel switch bezel. Includes push switch that detects operation status.
Driver's side outside antenna	Included in outside door handle. Transmits request signals to remote controller outside vehicle.
Passenger's side outside antenna
Rear outside antenna	Located in rear bumper. Transmits request signals to remote controller outside vehicle.
Mid inside antenna	Located in console box. Transmits request signals to remote controller inside vehicle.
Rear inside antenna	Located on underside of partition panel. Transmits request signals to remote controller in trunk room.
Driver side door request switch	Located on each outside door handle. Transmits ON/OFF information from each door request switch to keyless start control module.
Passenger side door request switch
Trunk lid request switch	Located in trunk lid license garnish. Transmits ON/OFF information from trunk lid request switch to keyless start control module.
Each door switch	Transmits open/close information from each door to keyless start control module.
Hood switch	Included in hood latch. Transmits open/close information from hood to keyless start control module.
Trunk lid switch	Included in trunk lid latch. Transmits open/close information from trunk lid to keyless start control module.
Steering lock unit	Located in steering column. Releases or locks steering lock. Includes unlock detection switch and lock detection switch which detect steering lock status. Outputs status to keyless start control module through serial communication.
Immobilizer indicator light	Located in combination meter. Goes out if ID code of remote controller matches when engine switch is pushed. Lights up if remote controller cannot be detected when engine switch is pushed. Lights up or blinks when system malfunction has occurred.
Theft deterrent light	Located in auto A/C panel. Lights up or blinks when security alarm is set or system malfunction has occurred.
Information display	Located in combination meter. Alerts driver by displaying messages.
ACC relay	Located in J/B. Switch ignition mode under control by keyless start control module.
IG1 relay
IG2 relay
Starting motor control relay	Located in main relay box. Turns ON and supplies power to starting motor when keyless start control module determines that engine starting is possible.
P position switch (CVT model)	Located in select lever. Transmits "P" range position information from select lever to keyless start control module.
Transmission range sensor (CVT model)	Located in transmission case. Transmits shift position information to keyless start control module.
CPP switch (M/T model)	Located in clutch pedal. Transmits operation information from clutch pedal to keyless start control module.
Brake light switch	Located in brake pedal. Transmits operation information from brake pedal to keyless start control module.
Outside warning buzzer	Located on back of left side front fender lining. Sounds when alarm or warning function operate.
Driver side/passenger side door lock switch	Included in both front door lock actuators. Transmits lock/unlock information from driver/passenger side door to keyless start control module.
Key cylinder switch	Included in driver side door lock actuator. Transmits lock/unlock information from door key cylinder to keyless start control module.
Keyless entry/TPMS receiver	Included in rear pillar trim. Receives signal from remote controller and outputs it to keyless start control module through serial communication.
