- DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
- Check the indicator.
When the ignition switch is turned ON, check that the ABS warning light is on for 3 seconds.
HINT:
If the indicator check result is not normal, proceed to troubleshooting of the ABS warning light circuit (see ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT ).
- In case of not using hand-held tester: Check the DTC.
- Using SST, connect terminals Tc and CG of the DLC3.
SST 09843-18040
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Read the DTC from the ABS warning light on the combination meter.
HINT:
- If no code appears, inspect the ABS warning light circuit or diagnostic circuit (see ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT or TC TERMINAL CIRCUIT ).
- As an example, the blinking patterns of normal code and codes 11 and 21 are shown on the left.
- Codes are explained in the code table on page DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
- After completing the check, disconnect terminals Tc and CG, and turn off the display.
If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered DTC will be displayed first.
- Using SST, connect terminals Tc and CG of the DLC3.
- In case of using hand-held tester: Check the DTC.
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Read the DTC by following the prompts on the tester screen.
HINT:
Please refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
- In case of not using hand-held tester: Clear the DTC.
- Using SST, connect terminals Tc and CG of the DLC3.
SST 09843-18040
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Clear the DTC stored in the ECU by depressing the brake pedal 8 or more times within 5 seconds.
- Check that the warning light indicates the normal code.
- Remove the SST from the terminals of the DLC3.
SST 09843-18040
- Using SST, connect terminals Tc and CG of the DLC3.
- In case of using hand-held tester: Clear the DTC.
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Operate the hand-held tester to erase the codes.
HINT:
Please refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
- Check the indicator.
- SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK (Test Mode)
HINT:
If the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or LOCK during the test mode, DTC will be erased.
- In case of not using hand-held tester: Check the sensor signal.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Using SST, connect terminals Ts and CG of the DLC3.
SST 09843-18040
- Start the engine.NOTE: Be sure to turn the ignition switch ON on flat place.
- Check that the ABS warning light blinks.
HINT:
If the ABS warning light does not blink, inspect the ABS warning light circuit and Ts circuit (see ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT , TS TERMINAL CIRCUIT ).
- Drive the vehicle straight forward.NOTE: Step the vehicle for 1 second after turning the ignition switch ON, and then start driving.
HINT:
Drive the vehicle faster than 28 mph (45 km/h) for several seconds and check that the ABS warning light comes off.
- Stop the vehicle.
- Using SST, connect terminals Tc and CG of the DLC3.
SST 09843-18040
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Read the number of blinks of the ABS warning light.
HINT:
- See the DTC list shown on the next page.
- If every sensor is normal, a normal code is output (A cycle of 0.25 seconds ON and 0.25 seconds OFF is repeated).
- If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed first.
- After doing the check, disconnect the SST from terminals Ts, Tc and CG of the DLC3, and turn the ignition switch OFF.
- In case of using hand-held tester: Check the sensor signal.
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Do step (3), (5) and (6) described and on the previous page.

With the hand-held tester connected to DLC3 and the ignition turned to ON, the ABS, TRAC and VSC data list can be displayed. Follow the prompts on the tester screen to access the Data List.
- ACTIVE TEST
HINT:
Performing the ACTIVE TEST using the hand-held tester allows the relay, actuator and so on to operate without removing any parts. Performing the ACTIVE TEST as a first step of troubleshooting is one of the methods to shorten the labor time.
It is possible to display the DATA LIST during the ACTIVE TEST.
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- From to the display on the tester, select the "ACTIVE TEST".
HINT:
