Removal & Installation

  1. PCM is located behind the front floor console. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition off. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove glove box. Remove console support bracket. See Fig 2 . Remove left knee bolster trim panel. Remove left knee bolster. Remove center trim panel. See Fig 3 . Remove radio, if equipped.
  3. On A/T models, remove the shifter trim plate from the front floor console. On M/T models, remove the manual shifter knob and shifter boot from the front floor console. On all models, remove 2 bolts in rear console box. See Fig 4 . Remove 2 screws on sides of center console. Slide rear portion of the rear console box back toward rear seats. Remove 2 upper screws of the front floor console. Remove the front floor console.
  4. Disconnect harness connectors from PCM. Remove mounting bolts from PCM. Remove PCM. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten PCM mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Reactivate air bag system.
