Bus +/- Signals Open Or No Response From Sentry Key Immobilizer Module

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform SKIS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY then BODY COMPUTER. If scan tool communicates with Body Control Module (BCM), go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, diagnose BCM communication problem. See BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM BODY CONTROL MODULE  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) connector. SKIM is located at ignition lock cylinder. See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Black wire) at SKIM harness connector. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Black wire between SKIM and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using a test light connected to ground, probe terminal No. 4 (Dark Blue/White wire) at SKIM harness connector. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Dark Blue/White wire between SKIM and fuse No. 23 (10-amp) at Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left side of engine compartment, near battery. Also check fuse No. 23 in PDC.
  4. Turn ignition off. Using a test light connected to ground, probe terminal No. 6 (Red/White wire) at SKIM harness connector. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Red/White wire between SKIM and fuse No. 10 (10-amp) in PDC. Also check fuse No. 10 in PDC.
  5. Using Scope Input Cable (CH7058), Cable-To-Probe Adapter (CH7062) and Red and Black test leads, connect scope input cable to channel one connector. Attach Red and Black leads and cable-to-probe adapter to scope input cable. Using DRBIII(R), select PEP MODULE TOOLS, LAB SCOPE, LIVE DATA, then 12-VOLT SQUARE WAVE. Press F2 for SCOPE and ENTER to select channel. Press F2 to set voltage range to 20-volts. Press F2 again when complete. Connect Black lead to ground. Connect Red lead to terminal No. 2 (Violet/Pink wire) at SKIM harness connector. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Observe voltage display on lab scope. Voltage should pulse between zero and 7.5-volts. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, replace SKIM. See SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM C2 26-pin connector. BCM is connected to junction block under left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Violet/Pink wire between terminals No. 2 at SKIM harness connector and No. 18 at BCM C2 harness connector. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Violet/Pink wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
